S.A.S.

Dear people of America,

If you have not already heard or know about this we are in a little recession. This could be the start of something worse if the next president is incompetent. The title of this blog is S.A.S. because at my work we just finished up semi annual sale. True things were marked down up to 75 percent off, but if you cannot afford them do not buy them! Also do not sign up for a credit card to buy things you can not buy with cash. All the department stores are having sales to get your money because they are struggling too. Recessions and depressions last much longer than months. The depression on the 30's lasted for a few years. I am not going to blame it on gas like so many people out there, but I will blame greed and the elected officials of this nations for allowing this. They are so worried about being reelected that they stop caring right before elections.

**The cover of Newsweek I thought was perfect because Americans are running blind in the night spending money they do not have.

The great thing about humans is we can change our life styles. Gas is going to be seven dollars a gallon by the end of summer. Who cares buy a bike and ride it, take a bus or car pool like my some of my family is now doing.

Friends

The other day I was on the driving range trying to have time to myself, but that is never likely to happen. I went through my first bucket and checked my phone to see how much time I had remaining before I had to go to work. I saw I had a txt from my mom telling me she had news about one of my friends since fourth grade. Keeping in mind that I have not heard about him or talked to him in close to a year. I nervously txted her back is it good or bad? I was replied with "can I call" knowing this is never good a thing I told her I would call her after I finished my bucket. It turns out my friend Scott Reedy robbed a gas station. She then tried to insert comments his mom told her such as "he wants help...he has asked for help but turned down." Okay a quick run down he was kicked out of the Marine Corps, he has been in prison before and he also only asks for help when he is in trouble. He has gotten into trouble more times than this but I refuse to go into greater detail. He also has a child and his girlfriend has also be in and out of jail too.
Another friend Chad Rhinesmith dropped out of school in the 10th grade. Well this is what happened. He convinced his dad that the reason for his poor grades was because the teachers had it in for him. So he was taking home schooling for a few months and then just stopped. This equals dropping out. Now he is addicted to any pain killers her can get his hands on.
I do have one more but this is just upsetting that people I called friends are throwing their life away to drugs.
I know I dropped names but they dropped our friendship.

My vote is in....

For once I have actually started to think about who I would vote for in the presidential race this year. In the beginning I was siding for McCain  because of his service to this country. However, now that Hilary is out Mr. McCain is make some bad moves, and statements that he might not be able to recover from. When it was still unclear who was going to win between Obama and Hilary he could make bold comments and have them go unnoticed. But now, oh now it is a different race. Mr. McCain said something about keeping our troops overseas for a hundred years if we had to fight the war on terror. That is crap all we are doing is playing the role of a bully. McCain is now trying to say he is not for war, but by keeping our troops there is a good thing. I am sorry but placing hundreds of thousands of troops lives in danger to in-force OUR  way of thinking is bullying! Obama seems level headed and by not taking campaign contributions from big industries he does not owe any favors when he is elected. Look at President Bush just as horrible as his father and wouldn't/couldn't pass any laws because he owed too many favors. So in the end we have to pay for it. The American population is like cattle in a pin. We may MOOO but eventually we give in and go where we are pushed. Not so fast! This is why Obama is getting my vote. To me he seems like he genuinely cares about the small people in the small towns doing the smallest of jobs. Mr. Obama you get my vote this year and my respect.

Spring Quarter

Spring quarter has come and gone with a lot of  bumps in between. Now summer quarter starts June 30th and I have not picked any classes yet. I was called a procrastinator because classes start so soon, but I refuse to take a class with out knowing who the professor is going to be. Some teachers teach for a paycheck while others actually teach because they enjoy it and want to help others. The most helpful tool I use is ratemyprofessor.com to weed out the teachers who will not positively impact my college experience. Grades are as followed:

Accounting-A
Economics-A
English-A
Math-B
Term GPA-3.722

I am happy with my grades and I know I could have gotten a lot worse, but also there is room for improvement. Earning a 4.0 would be awesome and is a goal of mine, but not this quarter.

Grinds My Gears

I really hated walking around campus and trying to dodge suitcases that were transformed into book bags or tot-sacks however you want to say it. A suitcase is a great invention for travel or stowing things away, but not, I repeat not for class to class voyages. I had a full load but I did not need the extreme presents of a suitcase to carry my books that do not weigh enough to warrant a suitcase. These suitcase violators are just as bad as parents during the holiday season who bust out the double wide baby stroller. It is not enough that they are dragging their kids around while they are screaming, but now they seem to do it more so when the malls are packed. The strollers are so wide that they are more wide than two people walking side-by-side. Anyway back to suitcases turned into book bags. Bad idea and do not do it please....

Actual picture from my english class!

No pocket of sunshine

For some reason that I am not aware of I have developed a sleeping problem. I use to not be able to sleep and now for some reason I sleep more than I care to admit to. I don't know what it is, but as soon as I sit down or lay down I go straight to sleep. I hate it! I don't like the feel of being sleepy all the time. No matter what I do I cannot get rid of the feeling. Like right now I feel exhausted and want to just crawl into bed and not come out. I do have a book with-in arms reach so I guess it is not too bad.
I could not help myself with this blog pic. A sleeping baby donkey; come on you know it is cute!

Atonement

I have meant to blog about this, but for some reason I never got around to it. I bought Atonement and finally watched it. I thought the movie was great. The only complaint I have is I feel like they were trying to fit too much into too little. Over all again still a great movie. It had a normal ending, or what some would argue a real life ending. No one ended with who they were suppose to. Tragic! I still hold onto hope. It is was what fuels so many dreams, and destroys reality. But anyway I thought the blog picture fit this blog since it was from the movie. Again he held onto hope all the way up until the end.

Gave In

#1. I finally gave in and had an eye exam. I knew my vision was not top notch or very poor. What I found out is that I'm near sighted. So I can see things up close but not far away. After a few more days of debating to get glasses or not; I went to Lenscrafters and got my prescription filled. I have never worm glasses, well only to read in, but that is all. First day I wore them was to work because I was going to see a few hundred people and if I got any bad looks or comments I would just deal with my near sightedness and do away with my glasses. Well the test was successful and I am keeping them.

#2. After watching Lucky # Slevin I decided I am going to grow my hair out like Josh Harnett in the movie. Right now I am stuck at the point of just shaggy and difficult to style hair.

**The picture I am posting is a rare one  and maybe the last. I wanted to keep this blog anonymous but eh who cares if anyone finds it. Also just how Nostradamus hide things in his writing there are things in this picture that should be found, but might not.

Columbus Art Festival

On Saturday mornings I have a Economics class. Last Saturday we got out early because we just reviewed for our final next week. Since I did not have to be to work until 3 and class was let out at 11 I had a lot of time to kill. I remembered that their was an art festival going on close to my college. To be exact Columbus Art Festival held annually every year.  At first I just walked around to kill time. As I continued to walk looking at artists life work I could not help to be humbled. They took ordinary things and made more than what words could try to describe. The first walk around I did was to try and see everything. Which is not possible. Second lap I tried to stop by all the stands that sparked interest during the first lap. Third was to do donkey sightings which was extremely hard, and I only found two stands.
After this I am now going to take more interest in art and try to bury myself in it, and if possible feel what the is trying to be expressed.

*If you can try to imagine the big red thing says ART. That actually belongs to the college so I think that is why it was held there. The festival was held in the area of the college.

A right to be dumb?

I was driving to work this afternoon. I had my window's down and cruse control set at 70. The speed limit was 65 so I was not going too fast. I seen a swarm of people going out and around this one particular vehicle. It was so bad that even semi trucks were going out and around. It was my turn to pass them, and then I seen a lick and stick thing hanging on their window. The sticker read "BABY ON BOARD." I though to myself does this give you a right to drive 50 mph in a 65 fast lane? No, is the correct answer. I just wonder if you really do have a baby in your car then why put them at risk going slow in a fast lane? That's like me cutting my leg off and jumping into a pool filled with sharks. I know that is an extreme example ,but still crazy drivers with road rage are wild animals I do not like to face.

Meeting Friends

Quick thought. I have a 8am Saturday economics class and a girl in my class, who talks very loudly, was telling of how she met her boyfriend. I was shocked about what she was admitting too! She was saying how this guy messaged her on Myspace, who lives 3 hours away, and she just felt "compelled" to reply him because he "seemed different." If I have learned one thing from a friend is that anyone can be anything on Myspace. I feel bad for her because she seems like a nice girl that is searching for a nice guy, but Myspace I feel like is not the best way to meet someone and publicly announce it. I could be wrong. If anyone feels different let me know, and if I'm off base or wrong. I'll either edit or delete this post. Depending how good your argument is.

Depression, Sadness, Sorrow

I try to not eat candy or sweets very often, but sometimes you just cannot help it. I have been feel down or depressed lately and I don't know why. I the weather has finally cleared up and summer has arrived. With the sun being out and birds singing why am I not happy? Is it a chemical imbalance or something unexplainable? A lot of questions going unanswered I know, but today, ooooh today, for twenty minutes I was happy and worry free. While putting fuel in my Jeep for some reason not known to me I went inside and bought a King Size Reese's Cup candy. I sat at my desk and enjoyed all four chocolate and peanut butter cups. I was taken from this state of mind and sent off on a relaxing ride to never never land. Now I am back and blogging about it.

Header

I sat in from of my computer last night looking at my blog thinking about what I could change on it to maybe make it look different. I though maybe the profile picture. Nah. OOH I know I'll change the header I thought to myself. Since it was freakishly long and didn't fit the given box. I changed it a few times and then changed it back a few more. In the end I kept my original picture this time I found out that when you click the box that says "shirk to fit." You should probably do so because it is there for cosmetic reasons.

3rd person

I am not the most proficient person when it comes to grammar rules, and those who are close to me, or frequently read my blog know this. However, I do try to be as correct as possible. If I am wrong on a rule or I am misusing a word I will try to make a mental note and not use it incorrectly again. The reason for this blog is a question: "When did it become okay to put your name ina story you are telling?" As a joke fine, but when you are actually having a conversation (serious or formal) I am going to go with NEVER. You look and sound like a fool when you do. I guess the same people who said "Yes, brown and black CAN be worn together" teamed up with the third person rule people and changed the rules over night. I am going to try an attempt to be completely repulsive and coy. (1b: if you click the link you'll know what I mean.)

*This is me telling the story to you as Joe Kavalier (narrator and person.) If you know who Joe Kavalier is then you are awesome.

I Joe Kavalier sat outside a bead of sweat started to form on Joe Kavalier's forehead. Joe Kavalier sat there thinking to Joe Kavalier's self "Wow Joe Kavalier is hot and it is hot outside." What should Joe Kavalier do he asks Joe Kavalier. I think I Joe Kavalier will go inside to stop this sweating that is taking place on my Joe Kavalier's forehead. After going inside Joe Kavalier had to sit down because Joe Kavalier is hot and tired. In Joe Kavalier's old age he doesn't get very much exercise.

This of course is an extreme example, but take warning to it. Because as foolish as it was to read this it is even more foolish to sound like this!

Quick Blog for the Masses

I am quick to jump on the mainstream music band wagon like most people. I think I might have blogged about liking the song Closer by Neyo and other various artist and songs.  I'm not for sure and want to finished this post before I look. A new song has come into heavy rotation on my iPod. Viva La Vida by Coldplay for some reason I cannot get enough of! I actually have not heard it on the radio or watched it on T.V.. WAIT weird and strange that song is on a itunes commercial!!!!!!!!!! Anyway I have seen 30 seconds of the video on tbs now. I think I was just downloading random song and happened to come across this one and I really cannot stop listening to it. I guess a new song will come and replace Viva La Vida. The song title means "I Live the Life."

*Side note. Does anyone reading this know how to put a power point in a blog?

Quotes

As I sat in the waiting of the hospital I was reading and came across these quotes. Since I can blog from my Blackberry why not share them while I wait.

"America is not just a country. It's an idea."
Bono

"Anyone who believes the competitive spirit in America is dead has never been in a supermarket when the cashier opens another checkout line."
Ann Landers

"News used to hold itself to a higher plane, and slowly has dissolved into, well, me."
Jon Stewart

Slevin...Round Two

I just finished watching the move Lucky # Slevin. I must say (I LOVED IT!!!!) I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end! So many twists, turns, plots and subplots. I had no idea what the movie was about or what to expect. I thought Lucy Lui was in on it up until the end. I was about to get upset then they showed her in the train station. Thank god! I may have a rough exterior but I am a sap for love stories. I remember hearing that movies are just MOVIES because it never works out like that in real life. True, but I am a typical American then because I will not settle for an unhappy ending in a movie.

Sexual Harassment

I have wanted to post this for the last few days, but I needed some time to pass so I could be as level headed as I possibly could about the situation. I was at work the other day and a lady wanted to exchange something. What's is the problem you might ask? Nothing. The problem was in the dialog that was passed from her to me. In order to exchange something or sell at retail you must scan the bar code or type the sku number in. The lady was twirling her merchandise (panties) around her fingers. I waited for her to stop so I could scan it, but she wouldn't. I asked her "can I have your things so I can ring you out?" She then proceeded to say: "So you want my panties hu? You really want them?" HA HA and I'm saying that in a very dry and sarcastic tone. As if that didn't make things uncomfortable enough she asked me to pick things out for her. I told her that she could hire a personal shopper if she needed assistance or advice on what to pick out. She didn't like that idea because as she out it "I would want you to pick it because you would take it off of me." By this time I have not looked up from the computer screen because I felt VERY uncomfortable. Usually I don't mind people being crazy but this was creepy! But wait she wasn't finished. She then told me that "You could take them off with your teeth." By this time I have lost all respect for her and trying as quickly as possible to ring her up and get her out of the store. I felt humiliated, disgusted, mortified and dirty.
I was shopping for a suit the other day and a lady helped me in the suit department. No problems, but I wonder does she ever get nasty things said to her? I'm going to assume no but I could be wrong. I guess move on and I hope I don't cross paths with that lady.
